2012 : Who Willl Survive? | Watch 2012Trailer

" An academic researcher leads a group of people in a fight to counteract the apocalyptic events that were predicted by the ancient Mayan calendar."

2012 is the latest offering from hundred million dollar-plus B-movie maestro Roland Emmerich (it’s co-written by Emmerich and Harald Kloser (who apparently can’t even spell his own name) and “polished” by Matt Charman).

Starring: John Cusack, Woody Harrelson, Amanda Peet, Thandie Newton.

An epic adventure about a global cataclysm that brings an end to the world and tells of the heroic struggle of the survivors. The Mayan prophecy about the end of the world 12.21.2012. Many people talk about it now, besides, the movie comes out soon. I saw on discovery or history channel or something like that where there was an ancient chinese culture whose calendar ended at the same time. Also they said modern scientists believe that the earth, sun & the great black hole at the center of the universe, or something like that, will all be in alignment which could cause a shift in the magnetic poles about the same date. Either way we're doomed.

Seeing the trailer on it's official website gives me the thrill to watch it this coming 13 but I came into hesitation, for what was happenning their in the movie were really terrifying. Feels like I don't want to look at the world going like that. I have never imagine myself experiencing such things. But, having seen this latest footage, I think this movie will be more fun and a better visual viewing experience than the last two.

Watch Where the Wild Things Are

The story, as millions of children and grown children know, tells of a rambunctious boy, sent to bed without his supper, who then encounters fearsome-looking but surprisingly gentle creatures when his bedroom turns into a mysterious forest. The film does surmount one of its two difficult challenges: Through puppetry and computer animation, the film making teams have successfully put a world of childhood imagination on the screen. Where the film falters is Jonze and novelist Dave Eggers' adaptation, which fails to invest this world with strong emotions.
I've been hearing reports that the film is proba
bly too gloomy and depressing for its own good and I assume that the debates between Jonze and the studio who wanted changes made were because of this. Which is understandable from a studio perspective, they wanted a typical children's film but instead got a rather dark and depressing story about being a child in a dysfunctional family.

Anyway, if this film does strike a chord with youth it will be something that can grow in meaning with them as they get older. That'd make it something even more special than a lot of the kid's films that are released today.

I enjoyed it a lot. I feel the same way about this film as I do with "The Hours." It wasn't cheery. It wasn't light and happy. It's purpose was to show the emotion of this little boy paralleled with the Wild Things. The script was meticulous and amazing. Every scene was vital to the story and you can connect with the characters. It helped that it had the most beautiful direction and cinematography, too.

Watch Astroboy in Theaters Now

I remember the first episodes they showed on TV in glorious black and white. From What I read a few days earlier it’s basically a remake of the original story from all those years ago. The only plus to this is maybe they’ll make some sufficient cash to write a sequel based on the only really good story this show ever had “Mystery of Amless Dam.”

I did enjoy the animation in Astro Boy quite a bit, but then like I said, I’m a fan of the original character and he was portrayed well and voiced just fine by Freddie Highmore plus I’m just a fan of CGI animated films in general. There were also three goofy supporting characters that were quite funny, but I think my daughter’s friend summed it up best: The best thing about the end of the movie is that it meant it was over.
Just to keep the facts straight, the scientist is voiced by Bill Nighy -not the science guy but the one from Pirates of the Caribbean. And, the President (not General) was voiced by Donald Southerland. Sam Jackson was Zog the huge robot.

“But the other message seems to be, the world would be better off without us. Strange, they don’t show a future where we have all “wised up” and gone agrarian…”

Because the world would be a better place without humans. Humans are destroying our planet. This is our only home right now and humans are just destroying. We need the planet, but the planet doesn’t need us. All that humans does - make war, and kill each other and some do that only for fun. The only way there is will be peace is if the human race dies off. They can’t show a world where humans “wise up” is because humans will NEVER do that. We make the same mistakes over and over again.
